JBlast JBlast Mineral Slag Abrasive was specially introduced in the 1960's to provide grit blasting contractors and industry with a safe alternative to sand as an expendable abrasive for use in portable air blast cleaning applications. Ever since JBlast has been the industry standard for quality and reliability. JBlast has the following properties:

Tough

JBlast has a high resistance to shatter compared with some other expendable abrasives. This ensures less breakdown of particles thereby enhancing cutting power and minimising the dust nuisance.

Hard

Between 6 and 7 on the Mohs scale JBlast bites into rust, millscale and the toughest coatings.

Sharp

The many faceted angular grains give JBlast a large number of cutting edges for rapid removal of old coatings, rust and millscale.

Dense

With a high specific gravity JBlast generates immense energy at the work surface giving fast cleaning rates.

Versatile

In addition to its obvious qualities as an expendable abrasive for conventional dry blasting, one physical characteristic of JBlast is that it does not absorb water. It is therefore equally efficient when used with water and does not affect the choice of inhibitor. Thus the relevant grade can be used in applications such as selective removal of coatings and chemical residues from steel substrates

Graded

A selection of grades are available to embrace a wide range of applications ranging from the removal of heavy marine growth to the de-scaling of turbine blades.

Safe

JBlast is manufactured from processed mineral slags which have an assay of less than 0.1% free silica, meeting the requirements of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations, Statutory Instruments Number 3246-1994.

Chloride Levels

In response to growing concern regarding chloride levels in abrasive we would reassure our customers that JBlast material is well within BS 7079 Part F for chloride contents and conductivity.
