PPE General Safety

These operating instructions contain the basic requirements to be followed during the setting up, operation and maintenance of the equipment. The instructions must be read by the technical operator and engineer responsible for the equipment prior to setting up and kept available at all times at the operating site of the equipment.

Personnel Qualifications and Training

Personnel charged with operation, maintenance, inspection and assembly must be in possession of the appropriate qualifications for the tasks. Personnel lacking the required skills and knowledge must receive training and instruction. If necessary, the operating company may commission the manufacturer or supplier to conduct these training courses. Furthermore, the operating company must ensure that the personnel fully comprehend the contents of the operating instructions.

Unapproved Spares

The approval applicable to Hodge Clemco helmets applies only when the respirator system is used complete, without modification, change or substitution.  A complete system comprises:
1 x air fed helmet with suspension assembly
1 x cape and muffler lining
1 x breathing air hose assembly
1 x air control valve with belt (or climate tube assembly)

IMPORTANT:  the use of unapproved spares on a Hodge Clemco helmet totally invalidates the approval and therefore contravenes the Statutory Requirements of COSHH regulations.

Scope of use

Adequate protection may not be provided by this apparatus in atmospheres that are immediately dangerous to health
WARNING: This apparatus is NOT suitable for use in flammable atmospheres, andis not designed for use in exceptional low or high temperatures where freezing up or heat exhaustion could result.

Triple lens system

The user must ensure that the lenses are correctly installed prior to each blasting operation and the window frame securely fastened.   Failure to do so could result in reduced visibility and/or personal injury.

Waist Belt

Under NO circumstances must the helmet system be worn without the belt being securely fastened around the waist.  Operation without the belt securely fastened can be dangerous.
