A new range of specialised abrasive blasting equipment designed for heritage restoration and other delicate surface treatment work has been launched in the UK by Hodge Clemco.
IBIX special cleaning equipment is designed for use on a wide variety of materials including stone, marble, brick-work, wood, glass, metals and glass-fibre, particularly when they are easy to damage. Pressure can be precisely adjusted from 0.2 to 7 bar by the operator to control abrasive material output. Many different types of media can be used, including calcium carbonate, fine garnet and sodium bicarbonate.
Models are available with 9-litre and 25-litre media hoppers in dry-blasting or wet-blasting versions. The H2O models allow low-pressure wet-blasting using atomised water mixed with abrasive directly at the nozzle. This facility is ideal for work on particularly delicate surfaces and also minimises dust.
The 9-litre models weigh 12kg, and the 25-litre models 28kg, so they can be used in confined spaces and on structures such as scaffolding by a single operator. A choice of nozzles is available to suit specific applications, all of them compact and featuring a comfortable trigger-grip with safety button.
Helix nozzles available with the IBIX special cleaning equipment further improve performance, particularly on delicate surfaces. By increasing the tangential contact area, the Helix nozzles produce a gentle, consistent cleaning performance with low media and air consumption. The tungsten carbide nozzles are available in several sizes and are suitable for wet and dry operations.
