Hodge Clemco has taken its hand blast cabinets to new levels of sophistication and performance with a number of advanced options which include automatic filter cleaning, multi-nozzle blasting and floor scraper systems.

Instead of the usual filter bags, Hodge Clemco cabinets can now be fitted with cartridge dust collectors which receive a reverse pulse of air at pre-set intervals without interrupting production, causing accumulated dust to fall into the collection bins below. Pulse intervals can be adjusted to suit different dust loadings, so that filters always operate at optimum efficiency and maintain good visibility within the work chamber for the operator.

When large volumes of components are involved, Hodge Clemco now offers automated multi-nozzle blast cabinets, custom-built to provide the most suitable combination of media, air pressure and nozzle dwell times, based on customers’ process parameters and production rates. Each cabinet is designed in the company’s in-house development centre to ensure components are presented to the blast stream in the most efficient way.

When components have to be blasted with particularly abrasive media which will not be extracted readily by conventional recovery systems, the cabinets can be fitted with floor scraper systems. These consist of pivoting blades driven by a pneumatic cylinder which automatically clear spent media from the floor into a hopper for re-cycling.

The new optional features are available on all Hodge Clemco standard suction and pressure hand blast cabinets, which are available in 800mm, 1000mm, 1200mm and 1500mm widths. They can also be incorporated in custom-built equipment.
